Almost a classic
The Jezabels - Prisoner

On a mission of shock and awe with their live shows it was with baited breath Clash awaited full-length debut ‘Prisoner’. Now it’s in our hands however we’re a little underwhelmed...but not much. Tracks such as ‘City Girl’ reveal a band firing on all cylinders while closer ‘Catch Me’ sums up the quartet’s intense-indie aesthetic with aplomb. The gold star goes to vocalist Hayley Mary who now enters the pantheon of great contemporary singers, her range a thing to behold. Dragged down by a excess of melodrama with some cutting and a dash of pop sensibilities The Jezabels would have a stone cold classic.
