This album was met with eager anticipation, as I was expecting dubbed-out punky reggae of a similar quality to The Slits’ ‘Earthbeat’ dubs, or TFL’s own classic ‘Money B’. ‘TSLOTFL’ is unfortunately rudimentary and only mildly engaging, with occasional flourishes of real sonic colour.

The press release reveals the process to be more interesting than the end result, as these unreleased tracks from 1978 were “reinvented” from mono tapes and edited, looped, filtered and subtracted from. Dyed-in-the-wool dub fans may enjoy this, but for everyone else, let the delay in release be a telling sign.
