The Electric – Life Is Moving

Diluted by fillers

Vadim continues his move from the obtuse rhyme books and joint popped Russian percussion of his earlier work to the late night tales typified in ‘The Soundcatcher’. Reportedly a tour bus project, written as the DJ schlepped from one tone to the next, the project never quite clicks as an entirely coherent entity. Where it does work, ‘The Electric’ – comprising Vad together with lyricist Pugs Atomz and singer Sabira Jade – pops from the speakers. ‘So Now You Know’ offers a fine fusion of UK turntablism and slick midlantic R&B, while the rolling break of ‘Running’ has the feeling of Nineties could-have-beens Earthling, but these killers find themselves diluted by fillers, and are bones best picked from the download.
