A welcome return by the effervescent Swedes, but aficionados of the band need to prepare for a surprise. For the indie pop of the past has matured into a chic sound, bonding closer to the growing electro scene.
The instrumentation is proficient, enhanced by some crisp production, creating an atmospheric, dreamy sound that perfectly encases Lisa Milberg’s sultry vocals, suggesting this is where they always belonged.
The melodies are subtle, avoiding reaching out to over-commerciality in pursuit of reward. That may be the downfall of course, which would be a travesty, as this is an intellectual and brave progression.
