Geographically, The Blizzards hail from Mullingar, Ireland, but spiritually they share a postcode with indie fodder such as The Kooks.
They’re paddling in the shallow end of the pool here, with only their occasional ska-embellishments providing anything to differentiate them from the guitar-pop hordes. ‘Trouble’ displays a puppy-off-the-leash vigour, but it’s an irritating exuberance. Meanwhile, ‘Trust Me I’m A Doctor’ has about as much sophistication as a Carry On film.
They serve up a little more gravitas with ‘Postcards’, but only the action-packed ‘The Reason’ truly warrants an escape from the indie-pop compost heap.
