The Apples In Stereo have never really made much of an impact this side of the pond, their sun-blushed psychedelia and radio-friendly pop-punk being perhaps a bit too jolly for our more cynical hearts.
This greatest hits set is culled from nearly twenty years of activity. It’s a frothy, over-energised thing; the sort of music you imagine the cast of The O.C. listen to. But, be as scornful as you like, there’s no way to avoid humming ‘Go!’ once you’ve heard it a couple of times.
It pains me to say it, but this is a pretty good record, and a fine introduction to the band. Consider it a guilty pleasure.
