A band living in the now
Spector - Enjoy It While It Lasts

With a debut album title as cynical as ‘Enjoy It While It Lasts’, you go into this record wondering if Spector are serious. Opening track name ‘True Love (For Now)’ backs up these suspicions, but with an inescapable melody and heart-on-sleeve ethos, these suspicions fade. Some tracks are inexplicably cheesy with their epic ballad sensibilities, like ‘Never Fade Away’, but it’s in the upbeat songs soaked with Fred Macpherson’s melancholy such as ‘Chevvy Thunder’ and ‘Upset Boulevard’ that make this debut shine. In these troubled come-and-go musical times, Spector are a band living in the now - and they know it. But with this first effort, it looks like their shelf life could be extended.
