Sea Wolf is Alex Brown Church, resident of Silver Lake, a Los Angeles neighbourhood home to the likes of Postal Service, Giant Drag and Church’s former band Irving.
This debut EP features five tracks all with a keen sense of place, usually somewhere from the past, not to be forgotten. The music is more nomadic, drifting from epic chiming guitars and mournful cellos to jauntier country rhythms and synth pop, with melodies stepped in the West Coast sound but tied to Back East rock sensibilities. Stand out track Ses Monuments is like Clap Your Hands Say Yeah with a tan.
