Rockness – Hercules & Love Affair

Main Stage, Sat 3 pm

Following what appears to be a somewhat heavy night for most starry-eyed campers and the scent of Pedigree Chum Burgers steadily filling the air, as the sun breaks on Saturday its Hercules And Love Affair that inject some much needed glamour into proceedings.

And this NY disco troupe ooze glamour and more glossy beats than Slick Rick rocking Studio 54. Having transformed into a full-on, brass-blasting party monster, its easy to see why their herculean happy-hour set has got everyone from Anthony Heggarty to DFA so excited.

‘Blind’ may be shorn of Heggarty’s emotive rasp, but today its Kim Ann Foxman and Nomi who take lead vocal duties (with the addition of a full live band) and give their set the full-on glitterball atmos as leader Andy Butler cut n pastes electronic music’s history into danceable new shapes.

It’s a set that sees their love of Chicago house, dream-pop and disco all worked into a heady concoction. “We wanna see all ya’ll dancing” demands Nomi, who possesses the kind of perfect pop-icon DNA to melt any male onlookers in the crowd. Best get the robo-dance fired up, then.
