After a hiatus of dull ballads Rihanna is back with more ballsy pop music.
In an era where rap and r’n’b is so minimal it only sounds good through a mobile phone on the upper deck of a bus, it’s nice to see her giving it some ummph with a building electro house beat. Some Daft Punk referencing electronics get dropped in and a brilliant barrage of what sounds like cut-up Michael Jackson samples bring the song to a low key, but far from minimal climax. Easily the most interesting pop star around (besides the mental / addict ones).
