Deluxe isn’t the word for this high-class limited edition of the Scream’s magnificent new pop opus from new venture Vinyl Factory, who take the art-rock crossover to new levels with the ultimate Primals collectors item.
Masterminded by the album’s artist Julian House, himself inspired by David Lynch, Videodrome and Italian horror movies, the hand-made box contains the regular album over two heavyweight discs pressed at EMI’s original pressing plant, book of images, movie-style poster, glossy credits and bonus 12-inch containing Andrew Weatherall’s cataclysmic Long After The Disco Is Over Mix of ‘Uptown’, the set’s ultra-cool soul ballad, With its huge bass, battering percussion and all manner of lysergic sonic eruptions spread over ten minutes, it harks back to his Screamadelica-era epics and is alone worth the 50 quid admission.
