At what point does a remix become a cover version?
Here apparently as Dutch DJ Peter Gelderblom’s reworking of Red Hot Chili Peppers’ hit By The Way gets a single release. His anthemic house version of the song was a big hit in Ibiza this summer when his bootleg mix starting being played by the party island’s top DJs. Now comes the inevitable winter release to try and cheer up the serotonin-depleted returnees, who bayed for it nightly. Which is bad news for the rest of us, especially if you hate the original song as much as this pointless remake.
