Previously Peggy Sue And The Pirates, having ditched their scurvy ridden suffix the band have come up with ‘Fossils And Other Phantoms’, a collection of gentle folk introspection produced by members of Mumford And Sons and Blood Red Shoes.
Like Mumford And Sons, Peggy Sue belong to the group of musicians making rootsy and earnest acoustic material from their parents’ detached houses in West London. That’s not to say ‘Fossils…’ lacks charm and authenticity. Over the course of twelve tracks the dual female vocals transport and transcend into beautiful plateaus of heartbreak and hoedowns with a gritty edge unrivalled by their peers.
