A colorful twelve-track ode to joy
Passion Pit - Gossamer

Comparable to that incredible rush one would get after ingesting an entire tube of Smarties, Passion Pit’s sophomore effort is a colorful twelve-track ode to joy. Opener ‘Take A Walk’ sets up the tone confidently, all stabbing synths and infectious guitars over profound sounding lyrics. Then it continues - the album’s main fault being how every track merges into one big goofy smile-a-thon while never delivering a number as exciting as previous hit ‘Sleepyhead’. Even ‘Carried Away’ sounds upbeat despite its use of the classic unrequited love narrative. Guaranteed to make you cry sugar-coated tears or vomit Care Bears depending on your tastes.
