Outside Royalty – Falling

The debut single from this cosmopolitan six-piece

Maybe every single music journalist out there is lazily reproducing the same press release, but if you see a piece about Outside Royalty that doesn’t mention Bryan Ferry and Roxy Music, treasure its originality.

The debut single from this cosmopolitan six-piece, who were initially based in Pittsburgh but now operate from London, has a smart mix of real and synthetic strings, lively guitars and Ferry-crossed vocals that is initially engaging though it gradually loses its dramatic impetus. The oft-repeated reference suggests a lack of imagination by the critics or musicians, though more likely both parties share equal blame.
