Pleasingly playable
New Look - New Look

First into the time-machine is this Canadian girl-boy duo, whose debut is an odd mix of ’80s analogue drum snaps and edgy ’90s synth-pop. Opener ‘Nap On The Bow’ is like a weird consummation between Olive’s ‘You’re Not Alone’ and the classic cheese of ‘I Can’t Wait’ by Nu Schooz. And, largely down to Sarah Ruba’s versatile voice, the punchy electro of ‘Teen Need’ and opulent melodrama of ‘The Ballad’ ensures ‘New Look’ is pleasingly playable.
