Model Horror are a five-piece band from that bastion of rock’n’roll, Hertfordshire, who sound like a Home Counties version of now-defunct art metal pranksters Test Icicles.
They’ve taken the spiky guitars, trashy beats and throat-wrenching heavy metal barrow boy shouts of the latter and made them more palatable to a chart-determining public by adding shaky harmonies and heavy synths, a la Bloc Party. But much like both of these other bands there’s a profoundly irritating element to Model Horror, characterised by the nagging “we are here, we are here” chorus line. You exist, we get it, now go away.
