Mazes – A Thousand Heys

Exudes vigour and vibrancy

Utilising a proper studio, DIY enthusiasts Mazes’ debut album is a joyous collection of finely-crafted indie rock. The snaking ‘No Way’ captures the vivacity of early REM in a way Stipe can only currently dream of, while ‘Bowie Knives’ is simply perfect – a pimped-up version of Big Star. However, amid the deferential nods, Mazes exude vigour and vibrancy.
