Matthew Herbert – One Club

Terse, uncompromising but riddled

This sampler-delic maverick bounces back with the second part of his triptych Oneclub. Having been booked to play a club in Frankfurt the producer did what any right minded DJ would have done: sample the whole evening. From dancefloor, bar, toilets, office and even a taxi carrying ravers, Herbert then twists this combined sound of human hedonism into perhaps his most experimental album for some time. And that’s saying something! Terse, uncompromising but riddled with the organic sounds of exploding life, it’s a sonic document reporting back from the frontline of personal boundaries, and a fucking good night out. Lively!
