Mø - No Mythologies To Follow

Following last year’s sultrily impressive ‘Bikini Daze EP’, on which Danish singer Karen Marie Ørsted – for she is  – introduced the world to her haunting yet soulful pop tunes, album proper ‘No Mythologies To Follow’ advances her evocative new reign.

As echoes of The Ronettes collide with chiming synths and, in the case of ‘XXX 88’ (video below), Diplo’s clipped beats, Karen’s poignant vocals glide and endear. Previous single ‘Pilgrims’ still sounds fresh, its brassy hip-hop tones suitably exposed, while the assertive choruses of ‘Don’t Wanna Dance’ and ‘Walk This Way’ ensures repeated listens into the summer and beyond.

Impulsive, instinctive and infectious, the eccentric and emotional Ørsted walks an enchanting tightrope.
