Loraine James – Building Something Beautiful For Me

A moving, exceptionally creative experience...

Loraine James is on something of a flawless run right now. Under her name and a new Whatever The Weather moniker, the steady stream of albums and EPs have positioned her as one of electronic music’s most vital producers. With every release, Loraine refuses to be second guessed, a tantalising proposition for the listener.

‘Building Something Beautiful For Me’ finds Loraine innovating once again, inspired by the composer Julius Eastman and his tragic passing, while also utilising her voice more on the meditative ‘Maybe If I (Stay On It)’ and glitchy ‘My Take’. She channels her trademark soundscapes via Eastman samples, breathing new life into the dizzying ‘Enfield, Always’. Out of devastation, Loraine has pieced together an album to cherish.
