Dev Hynes must be the most productive man in music. When not performing under the moniker of Lightspeed Champion he is making lo-fi lounge pop as Blood Orange and was once a member of the trail-blazing genre deniers Test Icicles.
His new album, though, displays a noticeable gear shift from his 2008 solo debut ‘Under The Lavender Bridge’. Less indebted to the fruits of Saddle Creek’s loins than two years ago, ‘LIS!NTMY! flirts with invention and uses melody and songcraft to great effect. A solid second record with tinges of brilliance, it’s another fine piece of work from the busiest man around.
