LFO – Frequencies

Early Warp classic reissued

Sheffield always had an attitude problem. Twisting the script, this Yorkshire outpost has enjoyed a chequered but ultimately very influential role in Britain’s experimental music narrative. As early Warp Records protagonists LFO were about as instrumental to rave mutating as your ankles are essential for dancing. This reissue still has its legs too. Their Leeds Warehouse mix of top twenty debut single ‘LFO’ is deployed early whilst the last two tracks, ‘Groovy Distortion’ and ‘Track 14’, are fresh additions that reveal exactly how much machine funk Gez Varley and Mark Bell managed to crush into their singular warehouse sound. A revealing return that smashes home their relevance.
