Le Loup – The Throne of the Third Heaven…

It is an album of deep layers

Before you punch yourself in the head at the mere sight of one of the most contrived album titles ever dropped, consider that Le Loup actually named their album after (take a breath here) an art sculpture built by African/American Janitor James Hampton, who secretly built a large collection of religious art from scavenged materials.

Okay, so Le Loup aren’t exactly going to appeal to fans of The Kooks. But within the album, the D.C band cover handclapping, twee indie pop on ‘We Are Gods! We Are Wolves’ and downbeat, dreamy electro on ‘Outside Of This Car..’
Le Loup do occasionally teeter on the pompous though, which only begins to grate somewhat coupled with creator Sam Simkoff’s nasal meanderings. It is an album of deep layers though, and when it peaks, the payoffs come at you fast. Just don’t mention the Throne again, though.
