Hot on the heels of Mystery Jets Miami Vice chic, New Zealander Ladyhawke makes her comeback with this glossy masterpiece, reminiscent of a time when a Snickers was a marathon and you could still stand at the football.
Mixing together the best parts of Kim Wilde, Grace Jones and, erm, The Bangles, “Paris Is Burning” is a riotous evocation of the city of love at night time. Coming across like Le Tigre produced by Trevor Horn, this is yet another inspired single from ANZAC art house Modular. A poptastic melody squelches over a thick and filthy bass line, with Ladyhawke warning that “Paris is screaming all night long”. Smouldering electro-pop perfection.
