A diverse album from a versatile performer
Kyla La Grange - Ashes

This twenty-four-year-old Watford resident has been gathering hype with scintillating live shows, and three early singles building up to the full-length. Now that it’s here ‘Ashes’ doesn’t disappoint. It’s a strong statement of anthemic guitar pop. Sometimes it’s her husky vocals which delicately command attention (‘Heavy Stone’), other moments see her powering across a landscape of crashing guitars (‘Walk Through Walls’). It’s a diverse album from a versatile performer, equally adept at gripping the listener with well-polished production as with a stripped-back heartfelt tune (‘Courage’). Lyrically she undulates between light and darkness, in an album expressing the tumultuous emotions leading up to the recording.
