“This is my street origins,” stated (the once Young) Jeezy in a teaser video for his latest LP. “In layman’s terms, the statute of limitations is over with.”
It’s a great mission statement; now 10 years into the game, Jeezy can talk in detail without facing any repercussions. And the high points are high: the title track sees the Atlanta rapper on top form and proves the best song on the album even before Jay Z drops his most vivid drug-trafficking verse in years.
But as a whole, ‘Seen It All’ gets a little repetitive and could do with more variation, particularly during the first half, which Jeezy handles solo. It’s by no means a bad record, but won’t be the trap pioneer’s most memorable either.
6/10
