‘Not In The Face’ is indeed not in your face.
Howie B uses the dub and folk qualities of the original Casino Royale record to deliver an atmospheric and eclectic journey. The album sits at a quiet cross roads, with rock, ska and dub all an equal distance away, yet still visible on the horizon. The percussions of ‘Protect Me’ mark the midway point of the album and spiral the sound into the drama of the second half, which peaks during the punchy vocals of ‘Royale’sound’. Not a remix album, more a re-working. It is a night closer, the theme to your comedown. Mr B is turning music we should be listening to into music we are listening to.
