A collaborative effort between acclaimed American violinist Hilary Hahn and famed modernist composer Volker Bertelmann (Hauschka) ‘SILFRA’ isn’t exactly going to be your ‘summer album’. These twelve abstract and minimal tracks rather act as perfect soundscapes to accompany your dreams and introspections. Each number see’s Hauschka’s basic piano work propelling the song forward as Hahn’s haunting violin weaves in and out to great spellbinding effect. At times playful, and at others sombre, ‘SILFRA’ is simply the result of two fantastic musicians stretching their wings and testing the boundaries of what can be achieved together. Best enjoyed at dusk with a fine cup of Lapsang.
