A gold medal hope
Herve - Pick Me Up, Sort Me Out, Calm Me Down

Eternal bass tycoon Joshua Harvey is a gold medal hope for this summer’s crowd-surfing championships. Straight 4x4 beats, rave pianos, melodious ecstasy flogged by B-line abrasions and vocals with half an eye on breaking through, mean all thirteen tracks have their merits as singles picks from a solo debut pulsating in its simplicity. It’s not perfect - Hervé’s one-trick bassline problems re-emerge, only the brilliant, teenage logic to ‘Better Than A BMX’ stands out vocally, and dubstep album closer ‘Keep Your Head Inside’ should’ve stayed put. Yet for a sunshine rush pinning you by the collar, it’s fast and furious while responsive to the benefits of starting Balearic group hugs.
