The band’s best album of the year
Guided By Voices - Class Clown Spots A UFO

After a six-year break, GBV reformed in 2010 and are looking to catch up rapidly, releasing two albums in five months. ‘Let’s Go Eat The Factory’ was disordered, whereas this new album feels somewhat more cohesive. The band are reputed for recording short songs and this set comprises twenty-one of them, spanning just forty minutes. That inevitably leads to the finished product being disjointed, but the band have a proficiency that cements over those cracks. This LP has a distinct retro feel to it, with elements of blues, psychedelia and an earthiness that results in the band’s best album of the year so far!
