Grandbrothers – Open

An essential listen from the Düsseldorf duo...

Erol Sarp and Lukas Vogel are by no means strangers to experimentation. Together as Düsseldorf duo Grandbrothers they merge sleek, frostbitten electronica with haunting piano motifs. Their latest effort, ‘Open’ is another bold and wonderfully expansive step forward.

Despite being informed by broad, neo-classical influences, their compositions remain dynamic and complex yet accessible, with ‘Bloodflow’ and ‘Honey’ particularly utilising tension and texture to stunning effect. It feels like a genuine step up for the duo, and the divine collage of sounds and futuristic atmosphere make it an essential listen.

8/10
