Fukkk Offf – Love Me Hate Me Kiss Me Kill Me

Brassy, butch, big-room electro-trance

Okay, so where the fukkk was Hamburg’s Bastian Heerhorst when we needed him in 2006?

We could have really done with this type of intense pugilist square-rave back when disposable electrohouse dribble swamped hairdressers’ floors like so many limp hair clippings. This is brassy, butch, big-room electro-trance with a propensity for robo-masochist vocal snatches, fizzy 4/4 beats and a roughed up techno attitude. Perhaps it’s the more recent popularisation of minimal and dubstep styles though, that gives a feeling that this risqué electroboy may have just missed the last boat to dance music’s isla bonita.

It feels like forever-ago that his closest comparisons, Justice, fell in and out of favour with crowds and critics and ‘Love Me Hate Me Kiss Me Kill Me’ doesn’t really push things out much further than their debut did all of two years ago.

5/10
