Fujiya And Miyagi are a band reliable for solid quality rather than triggering passionate adulation. Things may have changed slightly here, but no huge progression is apparent and they’re beginning to feel over familiar.
Their subtle blend of kraut-funk, atmospherics and hushed vocals works, but at points several tracks pass by and you realise you haven’t noticed anything. Things pick up at the end, with the relentless drive of ‘Tinsel And Glitter’ and the hypno-groove of ‘Universe’ being highlights. I didn’t test it out, but suspect this would benefit from plays whilst late night driving or on a serious weed binge.
