The opening line from Frightened Rabbit’s latest single, “Jesus is just a Spanish boy’s name”, is a prime example of the Glasgow trio’s naïve charm.
They may share muffled drums and tinny riffs with all the cool new wave pretenders currently squeezing into skinny jeans but their total disdain for fashion means they have no problem with sounding like Deacon Blue. It doesn’t always come off. Head Rolls Off doesn’t have the fragile fire of previous singles Be Less Rude, though they more than make up for it with a classy cover of rave classic Set You Free on the b-side.
