During their Lafayette show last November, it was clear Flyte were ready to embark on a new journey. Debuting ‘Defender,’ ‘Tough Love,’ ‘Even On Bad Days,’ and ‘Chelsea Smiles,’ the band-turned-duo Will Taylor and Nick Hill have crafted a body of work that shows them at their most vulnerable.
‘Chelsea Smiles’ is touched by the musical influences that guided the band’s early years. Inspirations as strong as The Beatles never fade away as Flyte present their musings of London through snapshots, like a more subdued ‘Penny Lane.’ The shortest track on ‘Flyte’ but the longest to write, the changes that occurred in this time show the duo are not just surveying their city but striving for far more beyond the surface.
