Hailing from Italy, Father Murphy have seemingly taken their home country’s love of the opera, Catholic churches, fine art, and romance and turned it into something rather epic and mysterious.
It’s blessed with a wild vocal delivery, and soft distorted guitars that sound like the soundtrack to either a doomed love affair, or the entire works of Shakespeare. But maybe only if it was played by a trio of Italian indie kids who spent their childhood at the the opera overlooked by a strict Catholic priest. (“Are we evil? We are evil!” they declare at one point).
