Songs merge into one wearying blur…
FAMY - We Fam Econo

Having met at school in France and recorded this debut in a church in Wales, the biography of FAMY threatens to be more interesting than the music.

They offer up overly emotive indie that chugs and builds but ultimately goes nowhere, drenched in reverb and with a nauseously insistent high end.

The hype is largely based around Bruce Yates’ ranging vocal, but its position in the mix leaves it lost and flat.

Single ‘Ava’ offers a representatively epic taster but, while these songs can be moderately pleasant in isolation, over the course of a whole record things start to merge into one wearying blur.
