Dance you most definitely will. Bursting at the seams with complex rhythms, pulsating beats and oh so funky bass lines, this long overdue compilation album from South Bronx trio ESG will drive you post-disco crazy. But there are subtle, slinkier interludes too offered by tracks like ‘You’re No Good’ and ‘About You’.
After disbanding twice since their 1978 inception, the band recently reunited with a comeback show last month. One of the most sampled bands of all time, ESG’s musical legacy is unquestionable and it’s about time they were given the notoriety they so rightly deserve.
