Ever-so-slightly off-kilter pop rock

Not from the Netherlands and with avuncular statuses yet to be
confirmed, there’s no doubting Dutch Uncles, with their ever-so-slightly off-kilter pop-rock, know their way around a time signature. The grooves might be intelligently crafted, with plenty of interesting rhythmical quirks throughout, but the songs themselves hold little water. The singer especially doesn’t so much carry the tune as interject seemingly haphazard and instantly forgettable phrases that just come and go. Dutch Uncles are of Montreal on Ritalin or Phoenix if they’d spent their lives practicing switching from a 6/8 into a 5/4 instead of writing catchy tunes. Plus they’ve got a shit name.
