This record has a classic dusty sound that fills every inch of your shapely modern speakers and makes you think, they don’t make ‘em like this anymore.
Except they do. Duffy is the latest singer to be onomatopoeically hailed by the music industry. There is a buzz flitting around the Welsh singer but don’t let that put you off, particularly if you’d like a charged mix of soul, rock’n’roll and folk with full on production, powerful vocals and assured melancholy. It’s unlikely that Rockferry will trouble the upper echelons of the charts yet it is a truly great pop song.
