Denzel Curry – King Of The Mischievous South

An artist who pushes the boundaries of hip-hop…

Having been a fan of Denzel Curry’s music for a long time, and was close to interviewing the talented artist, it’s always an honour to write about the hip-hop legend. That is what he is in this writer’s mind, an artist who pushes the boundaries of hip-hop, as well as keeping to what he knows and loves.

This new body of work shows off the best of what he can do, all while being an album that can be replayed over and over again. ‘King Of The Mischievous South’ is here to stay as a key part of the rapper’s discography, as this nineteen-track production shows what he can achieve when those creative juices are flowing.

As any listener begins to go through the album ‘Ultra Shxt’ is an immediate stand out. The addictive beats, hook after hook in the lyricism, and overall hype brings out the best in the artist. Fast-paced raps over a piano-based beat is something that only Denzel Curry could do, which is what makes this a banger from the get go.

‘Black Flag Freestyle’ and ‘Got Me Geeked’ are next on the list as being ones to listen to. Regardless of whether it’s the unique features on this album or if it is the style of rapping, these two tracks embody everything Denzel Curry is. It’s the talent, skill, and mentality that makes fans want more.

Features from the likes of A$AP Rocky, 454, Ty Dolla $ign, and many others is just a taste of what this body of work has. Even with these artists, the hip-hop artist is also someone who can create the likes of ‘Lunatic Interlude’ and ‘Anotha Late Nite’, and make it feel like light work. It’s effortless raps from Denzel Curry, and the reason why ‘King Of The Mischievous South’ is one of his bests.

8/10
