A change in direction
Delphic - Collections

Three years ago, Delphic were meant to be the new Klaxons. However, having seen their nu-rave counterparts’ careers disappear down the plughole, they’ll be keen not to retrace those footsteps. Perhaps that’s part of the reason behind this change in direction, because ‘Collections’ is a record very much in thrall to the successful pop of the early-’80s. There are echoes of Duran Duran, ABC and more here, but thankfully without the horribly cheap and nasty production values. There are also hints of early-period Muse, but for the most part, Delphic manage to make this unlikely concoction into a triumph, particularly on new single, ‘Baiya’.
