Picking up plaudits from the likes of Zane Lowe and Rob Da Bank, Dark Captain Light Captain have an early xmas present for their fans in the shape of debut ‘Miracle Kicker’.
‘Miracle Kicker’ opens with their impressive single ‘Jealous Enemies’ before drifting into the learing suspense of ‘Parallel Bars’ and previous EP ‘Circles’. For those of a more upbeat disposition, ‘Speak’ boasts some tuneful acoustic guitar melodies and subtle yet effective whistling, but is still wrapped in the ethereal vocals of the band. At moments, when playing this cd, you often forget it is actually on but once it finishes, one feels slightly alone, and have to put it on again. There is something about those brushing folk tinged guitars and the shifting, distant drum beats that forces you to feel involved during this album.
Delivering on their early promise while giving reason after reason to love them, ‘Miracle Kicker’ is a great, entrancing debut from my new favourite band.
