To a musical backdrop featuring glitch-ridden samples of Radiohead’s Planet Telex, God opens his letter to man with a stuttering, nervous “h-h-hey there, h-h-how’s it going?”, as if unsure of how his brash, violent creation might react to his reappearance. Baffled by our nasty side, he is apologetic but questioning. With smart lyrics and witty rhymes – even if the underlying motive stems from teenage angst rather than theological enquiry – this track is intelligent without being musically rigorous.
