When the sleek, stylised ‘In Ghost Colours’ saw Cut Copy’s star rise alongside the output touched by Kitsune and Ed Banger’s gold standard, the electro juggernaut seemed set to decimate everything in its path. Things are a little different now but like many of their contemporaries, Cut Copy have had to adapt to the landscape and Zonoscope is a considered attempt at a more kaleidoscopic approach. ‘Where I’m Going’ is punchy, perky and immediately likeable, its psychedelic retro feel good underpinned by a bounding, hook-laden chorus, but gargantuan closer ‘Sun God’ grandiosely makes this album worth picking up.
