In 2008, disco means many different things to many different people, but to Manchester’s Crazy P, it means everything.
‘Stop Space Return’ is the latest act in James Baron and Chris Todd’s voyage to the heart of dance and is equally one of their most fully formed, shifting gracefully from squelching synth grooves to soulful house. For all the shape shifting, the groove remains fluid throughout, a perfect tide to carry along Danielle Moore’s bittersweet vocals. Occasionally, a bit of a rougher, DFA-style edge wouldn’t go amiss, but you can’t fault Crazy P for sticking to their guns – particularly when it seems everybody else is only now catching them up.
