Trading on the success of their Robbers and Cowards album, Cold War Kids re-release last year’s single We Used to Vacation.
The band had a brief spell as the Orson it was ok to like, before revelations of a Christian bent soon put paid to their cool. Once again it’s a case of religion getting in the way of a higher truth, namely that sounding like Orson is never ok. Hiding behind the sterner figure of Bob Dylan’s Ballad of a Thin Man, We Use to Vacation postures like the real deal. But behind the heartfelt vocals and earnest rock is just a nice song that wants to be liked.
