Mission epically accomplished
Cold War Kids - Mine Is Yours

After the solid but oddly unsatisfying ‘Loyalty To Loyalty’, the Californian quartet have recruited producer Jacquire King (Kings Of Leon, Modest Mouse) to refine their gritty soul-punk. Consequently, this excellent third album has an expanded sonic gravitas. And bigger is better; the punch of ‘Royal Blue’, the angry desperation of ‘Skip The Charades’ and the pummelling singalong ‘Bulldozer’ all seem destined for festival anthem status. Nathan Willett digs deep into fractured relationships for inspiration and the resultant openness, coupled with King’s deft nurturing of Willett’s soul-searching, has created the finest Cold War Kids album yet. Mission epically accomplished.
