Absorbs the listener at every turn...
Cloud Control - Dream Cave

Aussie psychedelic dream-poppers Cloud Control’s 2010 debut, ‘Bliss Release’ (Clash review), featured something of an indie classic, the jangly single ‘There’s Nothing In The Water We Can’t Fight’.

On this follow-up, the foursome maintains pop perfection and pure happiness with ‘Scar’ (video below), and their ambient psychedelic side is showcased on ‘Moonrabbit’.

Elsewhere, they cut a new path and express dark emotions for perhaps the first time in their career – at least to a properly palpable level.

There’s sincerity to the anguished vocals on ‘Promises’ and ‘Island Living’ has a wall of morose bass that evokes Thom Yorke’s solo stuff.

This eclecticism of emotion expressed instrumentally and lyrically is indicative of a matured songwriting style, and absorbs the listener at every turn.
